This template imitates the format of a wikilink to a category.

It is formatted using [[double-brackets]], with the text Category: appended to the front. e.g. [[Category:Wiktionary]]. If the link is invalid, then the clickable link will be disabled.

Usage

This template may be added anywhere outside of content namespaces to display a category link.

Parameters

This template uses one or two unnamed (positional) parameters:

• |1= (required) The category to be linked to, without the Category: prefix.
• |2= (optional) The sortkey to be displayed in the category link.

Examples

• {{category|English nouns}} returns:

  Result: [[Category:English nouns]]

• {{category|Portuguese appendices}} returns:

  Result: [[Category:Portuguese appendices]]

• {{category|Fundamental|sortkey}} returns:

  Result: [[Category:Fundamental|sortkey]]

{{category|Some<invalid>category name}}

Result: [[Category:Some<invalid>category name]]
