This template is suboptimal: it doesn't work for terms separated by a space. At just so, it looks for "just+so", which returns no result, but there's most definitely a Macmillan entry. --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 14:53, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit: it does work, but you have to replace spaces by hyphens: {{R:Macmillan|just-so}}. It's still suboptimal. --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 15:00, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
The version I restored (now 05:49, 2 June 2019‎‎) works in just so just fine; it is because it has code to replace spaces with dash. I oppose Sgconlaw-ization of the template. The rendering
“word” (US) / “word” (UK) in Macmillan Dictionary
is perfect as it is and does not need any "improvement" except that I would drop the quotation marks, but for that there is probably no consensus either way. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:59, 2 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Here are some entries that the original template does not work with:
Moreover, it is not possible to specify one American spelling and one British spelling (e.g., color/colour). The additional parameters do not need to be used if an editor does not wish to. — SGconlaw (talk) 12:22, 2 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Macmillan Online

[edit]

Macmillan English dictionary has been sunset [1], so this template should probably get the same treatment as Template:R:Lexico (redirect to Archive.org, update the documentation, etc). lattermint (talk) 13:50, 16 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Lattermint: Thanks. I have redirected the URLs to Internet Archive. Will look at updating the documentation later. — Sgconlaw (talk) 14:29, 16 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
