Simplification of Code[edit]

While adding a gender parameter to this tempalte, I removed all the plural/uncontable stuff as it doesn't seem to apply to proper nouns. Appears to have been copied from an en- template. The old code is here for reference. --Bequw 23:33, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Number occasionally seems to be needed, see Peces. I added g2= and g3= following pattern for other templates for additional gender and number markers. Robert Ullmann 11:34, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Categorizing for non-noted gender[edit]

If you forget to fill in the gender, it will categorize the articles as Category:es-proper noun usage without gender. Clean it up when you can. --Bequw¢τ 18:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, how about dumping them in the, older, Category:Spanish nouns lacking gender, and reduce some category duplication? --Bequw¢τ 09:00, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Handling gender[edit]

I would like to make this template into a copy of {{pt-proper noun}}, mainly because of how the Portuguese template doesn't produce a ? when gender isn't supplied, because there are times when it cannot really be given. Is there any opposition to doing this? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 01:50, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

In what situation can’t it be given? — Ungoliant (falai) 23:09, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking of proper nouns used so infrequently that a position where their gender is apparent may not be attested. Granted, that's really a marginal issue given its rarity. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 02:17, 11 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
