Non-IPA character

@Gilgamesh~enwiki: At baajkōļ, this template uses the character U+0357 (COMBINING RIGHT HALF RING ABOVE), which is not an IPA character. It is therefore categorizing entries into C:IPA pronunciations with invalid IPA characters. I can't tell what you're using that symbol to represent, either; to judge from Marshallese language#Phonology, b seems to represent plain unvoiced /p/ in word-initial position anyway, so no additional diacritic should be necessary anyway. —Mahāgaja · talk 15:01, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

It was meant to represent partial rounding, and that diacritic is the written-above alternative to the primary written-below diacritic for letters that have descenders (like /p/). And we're also in the process at w:Talk:Marshallese language of gathering consensus and improving the description of this language on both Wikipedia and Wiktionary. Wikipedia for describing the language's nature, and Wiktionary for describing the lexicon. So the entire project is currently in a state of flux.

The written-above version of the diacritic is indeed charted at w:International Phonetic Alphabet#Diacritics and prosodic notation. If Wiktionary does not recognize it, perhaps it is an oversight on Wiktionary's part rather than the combining diacritics? - Gilgamesh~enwiki (talk) 15:18, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
