Etymology
From the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Spanish Tucsón [tukˈson], from the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] O'odham Cuk Ṣon (literally “Spring at the base of the black mountain”) [tʃʊk ʂɔːn], the “black mountain” in question being the summit now known as Sentinel Peak, or “A Mountain”, just to the west of Tucson’s downtown area.
