using Google Translate for translations

[edit]

Please do not add any translations here that you obtained by using Google Translate or any other computer-translating program. In the first place, the translations are often incorrect. In the second place, some of the transliterations, such as the Khmer transliterations, are completely unacceptable. On the diet page, you gave the Khmer transliteration as "robb ahar"...that is a very poor attempt by a machine to give the letters in Engish. The correct transliteration is "rɔbɑɑp aahaa". So please stop what you’re doing. Only add words from a language that you can speak. If you use Google Translate, then please keep the results for your own reading pleasure and do not push them off on us. We demand better. —Stephen (Talk) 08:45, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Or, if you are going to use machine translations: take them with a grain of salt and do not submit them unless you are absolutely certain that they are correct. --Æ&Œ (talk) 08:51, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Further: in the entry for automobile, you said the Khmer was យានយន្ត, and that the transliteration was "yeanoyon". First, យានយន្ត does not mean automobile, it means motorized vehicle (includes trucks, trikes, ATV, tractors, and so on). And the transliteration of យានយន្ត should be "yien yʊən" (two words). But it’s the wrong word anyway, it does not mean automobile. —Stephen (Talk) 08:57, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
