Hello, Aion. I also read dictionaries for fun and I'm fairly new to Wiktionary. I agree on the 'capitalization thing'. I disagree that dictionary definitions should be longer. Longer articles should go in Wikipedia. It's easy to link from a Wiktionary definition to more information at Wikipedia.
I can't help with pronunciation, because I can't read or write those things. There's a Wiktionary:Pronunciation key . You might also want to look at the concise version of SAMPA for English sounds on Wikipedia, as well as the Wikipedia article on IPA. I can't make heads or tails of any of it. :-) Welcome. Bluelion

Bluelion, two months ago those symbols seemed like hieroglyphs to me too. They had been intriguing me for quite some time already though. So I plunged in and learned what they stand for. Basically it comes down to learning a new alphabet. The nice thing about this alphabet is that every letter in it stands for exactly one sound/phoneme. I'm still learning and I am not sure whether the IPA transcriptions I put in are always entirely correct (English is not my native language either), so it would be nice if somebody else got interested in these IPA transcriptions as well to be able to check them. Here is an appendix I made for the IPA pronunciation keys:
