Would you kindly relax? We had a vandal go through, admittedly an unpleasant one, most of a year ago and now all railroad related articles are intstantly suspect? This is not the pattern of that vandal, to edit anonymously, and to edit only once. Adding entries for items that match

Two questions:

1. When trying to add "house poor", I matched on over 100 items containing "house" and "poor". When this happened I did not get the link to create the entry. How can create an entry for a multiple word phrase without searching on it first? If I create it in double quotes (what I tried), it kept the double quotes in the definition.

2. I was going to add an entry for "canonicalization", and it matched on canonicalize. This is fine of course, but the definition of canonicalize doesn't go any further than explain data is changed to is canonical form (not why), and the further links get more general like formalize so we lose the computing aspect of the entry. I could edit the canonicalize to put in some more detail, but I do not know how to put in the noun form etc.

I am obviously new to this, but am willing to learn and contribute. Thank you for cleaning up the house poor entry.

List of idioms in the English language

Hello Dvortygirl. Connel pointed me in your direction as I was asking a lot of newbie questions about the formatting of entries for idioms. The "List of idioms in the English language" is in the process of being AfDed out of Wikipedia, and Connel has kindly transwikied them into Wiktionary. They are in a set of 25 (none start with 'V') articles currently in Transwiki space, the first being here: Transwiki:List of idioms in the English language (A) - the names of the rest should be obvious. Some of the discussion over them can be found on my user page User:West London Dweller, copied from the Information Desk. I'm currently working my way backwards through the articles, setting them up to (hopefully) facilitate keeping track of the migration of individual idioms into Wiktionary. I've a couple of questions: how should I best preserve the usage information (some idioms are used (almost) exclusively in particular geographic areas - e.g "waka-jumping"; and what is the format for citations from USENET (via Google) - is there a citation template, for example? Anyway, I can't work quickly on this transwiki process, but I will keep plugging away - I'm expecting it to take months (I'll probably be offline until after the New Year now). If you can keep a watching eye to make sure I don't go wrong, I'd be grateful. - WLD^talk|edits 22:08, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

ridonculous

I appreciate the comments, and I hold nothing against the admins. I think what you do here is admirable and probably very frustrating at times.

I think I will start my research for ridonculous! I know it was said on a "How I met your mother" episode.. when I gather some more evidence of widespread use I will nominate it for the request for verification through that proper process.

Many thanks. All buttons seem to have appeared, except that I can't find a check box for "mark my edits as patrolled by default". I have tried refreshing and even rebooting. Any ideas? --Enginear 14:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
