h4
[edit]What exactly is this consonant in PIE? As far as I know, the standard reconstruction of PIE only uses h1, h2 and h3. So which one is it? —CodeCat 01:21, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- I have no idea what the consonant is, but I'm pretty sure it's an h with a subscript four, because that's what I've seen in all the academic sources I've cited, such as this one. The exception being this source, but they're Nostraticists, not Indo-Europeanists. EliasAlucard / Discussion 14:45, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Redirects from the main to the appendix namespace
[edit]Please don't create these for Proto languages, they will be deleted. Please fix any incoming links to link directly to the appendices. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:22, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
*h₁lewdʰo-
[edit]How could this be a noun and mean "free"? Free is an adjective... —CodeCat 14:04, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- I copied the template from a different article, sorry. I'm not used to all these templates yet, don't know them by memory. But I don't think the actual meaning of the word is free, but rather, that it developed somehow into "free" in Greek and Latin. People is a noun and that seems to be the more common meaning in the other cognates. Notice also that the pronunciation/spelling in Greek and Latin are quite different from the other cognates. You added this to the category "roots" but it's not a root. Also, the descendants should go on the lemma form, not on an inflected form. —CodeCat 12:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I just copied and pasted a verb template. EliasAlucard / Discussion 12:24, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Could you please check the edits you make first? —CodeCat 12:31, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'll try, I'm new to Wiktionary. EliasAlucard / Discussion 12:34, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I understand that, but it's still important to know what something does before you do it. There are many cases of misuse of templates and categories, apparently because people didn't really know what they were doing. —CodeCat 12:37, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

PIE appendices
[edit]Almost all of your edits are rather elaborate concoctions of fringe sources. If you don't understand the material, don't add it otherwise others need to waste time cleaning up after you. If you want them created place a request at WT:RE:ine. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 19:10, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called EliasAlucard. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name EliasAlucard~enwiktionary that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
