Name of an early martyr, (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Late Latin Vitus, of uncertain origin; possibly from a Thracian word meaning "a person from Bithynia". By folk etymology associated with Latin vita (life).

  • Vitus has also been used as a Latinization of Guy.
