Various origins:
- Borrowed from German Walberg, a variant of either Wallberg or Wahlberg.
- Borrowed from Norwegian Wålberg, a habitational surname from Old Norse valr (“falcon”) or hváll (“dome-shaped hill”) + berg (“mountain”).
- Borrowed from Swedish Walberg, an ornamental surname composed of the elements vall (“grassy field, pasture”) and berg (“mountain”).
