Etymology

[edit]

From Mongolian Зуунмод (Zuunmod).

Proper noun

[edit]

Zuunmod

  1. A city in Töv, Mongolia.
    • 2002, Claire Sermier, “Central Aimags”, in Helen Loveday, transl., Mongolia: Empire of the Steppes[1], Airphoto International Ltd., →ISBN, →OCLC, page 149:
Töv Aimag (Central Province) surrounds the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, which itself maintains the status of an autonomous municipality. [] Its capital is Zuunmod, sometimes simply referred to as ‘Töv Aimag’. []
The small town of Zuunmod, which means ‘hundred trees’, is 43 kilometres south of Ulaanbaatar and easily visited on a day trip. Zuunmod has two museums, a recently-built monastery, and retains a laid back atmosphere that is a welcome relief to Ulaanbaatar.
    • 2012 July 12, Maxim Duncan, “With wild rides and grapples, Mongolia celebrates muscular past”, in Elaine Lies, editor, Reuters[2], archived from the original on 17 May 2021, Business‎[3]:
“Naadam is a tradition passed down from our ancestors to our parents,” said Battulga Tsogbayar, a tiny 14-year-old boy who won Tuesday’s horse race near the town of Zuunmod, Tuv province.
