Adjective

[edit]

ācrior (comparative, neuter ācrius); third declension

  1. comparative degree of ācer
    • 63 BCE, Cicero, Catiline Orations Oratio in Catilinam Prima in Senatu Habita.8:
Recognōsce tandem mēcum noctem illam superiōrem; iam intellegēs multō mē vigilāre ācrius ad salūtem quam tē ad perniciem reī pūblicae.
Recall at last with me that previous night; now you will understand that I watch much more keenly for the preservation of the republic than you [do] for its destruction.
(multo: ablative of degree of difference that modifies acrius, which functions here as a comparative adverb modifying vigilare.)
