Latin[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Perfect passive participle of anteeō.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (Classical) IPA(key): /ˈan.ti.tus/, [ˈän̪t̪ɪt̪ʊs̠]
  • Note: the -e- in this word is not pronounced but is purely orthographic, in line with the "full" spelling of prepositional/prefixal elements. Not only do Latin short vowels followed by other vowels regularly elide on the phonetic level, but stem-final short vowels are already regularly elided on the morphophonological level, i.e. during word derivation.

Participle[edit]

anteitus (feminine anteita, neuter anteitum); first/second-declension participle

  1. preceded
