Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *artuq [1], a derivation of Proto-Turkic *art- (to increase). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰺𐱃‬𐰸 (artuq‬‬, more, much)[2].Cognate with Turkish artık, Kazakh артық (artyq), Uzbek ortiq, Chuvash ытах (yt̬ah), ытла (ytla) [3].
