Etymology
From Proto-Turkic *bütün, a derivation of *büt- (“to end, accomplish; to create, build; to heal; to grow, ripen”), whence also Azerbaijani bütöv (“whole”). Cognate with Turkish bütün, Crimean Tatar bütün, Turkmen bütin, Tatar бөтен (böten), Bashkir бөтөн (bötön), Kyrgyz бүтүн (bütün), Uzbek butun, Kumyk бютюн (bütün), Yakut бүттүүн (büttüün), Chuvash пӗтӗм (pĕt̬ĕm), etc.
