Etymology

From bis (twice) + *garrer, from Middle French garre (of two colors), but further origin uncertain; possibly borrowed from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Occitan or (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Provençal, ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "gem" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., and cognate with bigarade.[1]
