Etymology[edit]

From vitx, dialectal plural form of vit (penis). The plural form was taken for a singular and gave rise to a new plural form, vitxos. The singular form bitxo was created from this via back-formation and respelled in accordance with the Catalonian merger of /v/ and /b/.
