Etymology[edit]

From a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia *carcasia, *querquesia, or similar.[1][2] from Celtic, from Proto-Indo-European *pérkus ~ *pr̥kʷéu- (oak). Compare the local pre-Roman tribal name Querquerni.
