From Ancient Greek χείρ (kheír, hand) + Ancient Greek ἅμαξα (hámaxa, cart) or from Ancient Greek χειρᾰμάξιον (kheiramáxion), from χειράμαξα (kheirámaxa) +‎ -ιον (-ion), of which the former is from χείρ (kheír) +‎ ἅμαξα (hámaxa)
