    • 19th century, W. Sonder, ORDER XXXVI. MELIANTHEÆ, Planch, in Flora Capensis, Volume I, page 366:
      Petals shorter than the calyx, evidently perigynous, the claws of the four uppermost (i.e., the two posterior and two lateral) connivent, and cohæring by means of their woolly covering, but not truly concreted.
