From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin cōmoedia, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek κωμῳδία (kōmōidía), from κῶμος (kômos, “revel, caurousing”) + either ᾠδή (ōidḗ, “song”) or ἀοιδός (aoidós, “singer, bard”), both from ἀείδω (aeídō, “I sing”).
