Romanian

Etymology

Borrowed from or based on Latin cōnsequentia (19th cent.), in an attempt to make the word seem closer to a naturally occurring or inherited word in Romanian, using the suffix -ință. Compare the doublet consecvență, also borrowed from the same source, but not modified as much in this manner.

Noun

consecință f (plural consecințe)

  1. consequence, result, outcome, effect, repercussion
