From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Vulgar Latin cottizāre or cottidiāre (compare Aromanian cutedz, cutidzari, Venetian scotezàr, Istriot cutisà, Aquileian scuttia, compare also Albanian kuxoj), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek κοττίζω (kottízō, to play craps, shoot dice).
