From Proto-Tungusic *ʒuban. Cognate with Manchu ᠵᡠᠸᠠᠨ (juwan), Nanai дёан (ʒoan), Evenki дян (ʒan), Even мян (mẹn), Oroqen dʒa꞉n, Negidal ӡа̄н (ʒān) and Solon jaang etc.
