From Proto-Nuristani *drāsā́ (whence Ashkun drás, Prasuni rásik, Tregami drás, Waigali dras), from earlier *draHsáH, alteration of Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰráHȷ́žʰaH (grape, vine) (whence Sanskrit द्राक्षा (drā́kṣā)), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰréh₂ǵ-seh₂ (whence Albanian dredhëz (strawberry)), from *dʰreh₂ǵ- (berry) (whence Latin frāgum (strawberry)).
