Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish ابابیل (ebābil, “large flights of birds, legendary birds in the Qur'an, held by some to have been the alpine swift or a species of swallow”),[1][2] from Arabic أَبَابِيل (ʔabābīl).[3]
