Usage notes
[edit]Förlåt is used when apologizing for having acted in a (morally) bad way.
Verb

- to excuse (provide an excuse for)
- Fylla ursäktar inte hennes beteende
- Drunkenness doesn't excuse her behavior
- (in some polite phrases) to excuse (forgive)
- Om ni ursäktar så måste jag tyvärr gå nu om jag ska hinna med tåget
- If you'll excuse me, I unfortunately have to leave now to catch the train ("if I'm to make it to the train in time")
- (reflexive) to apologize (for a mistake or the like)
- Programvärdarna ursäktade sig för att de råkat avslöja filmens slut
- The show hosts apologized for having accidentally revealed the ending of the movie
- (reflexive) to excuse oneself (provide an excuse for something bad one has done or the like)
- Han ursäktade sig med att han inte visste att det var olagligt
- He excused himself by saying ("excused himself with") that he did not know that it was illegal
