Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *apir, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁epi (“on, upon”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ὄπιθε (ópithe, “behind”), ὄπιθεν (ópithen, “behind”) (alternative form of ὄπισθεν (ópisthen, “behind, backwards, in the future”)).[1] Alternatively, Orel constructs Proto-Albanian *eupera, a secondary analogical ablaut variant of Proto-Indo-European *upér.[2]
Adjective
epër (feminine epëre)
