From Arabic فَرَّكَ(farraka, to rub forcefully, to grind). Perhaps influenced semantically by Arabic فَرَّقَ‎ (farraqa, “to divide, split, scatter”, compare Maltese feraq (to separate, divide)) and/or Italian fracassare (to smash, shatter).
