[edit]From Proto-Albanian *feln-, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)pel- (“to say aloud, recite”); compare English spell, Ancient Greek ἀπειλή (apeilḗ, “threat”). Related to flas (“to speak”). Alternatively, possibly borrowed from Latin fabula.[1]
