Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *feln-, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)pel- (to say aloud, recite); compare English spell, Ancient Greek ἀπειλή (apeilḗ, threat). Related to flas (to speak). Alternatively, possibly borrowed from Latin fabula.[1]
