Etymology

Via (deprecated template usage) [etyl] German Low German from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Low German fors (brisk, bold), derived from forse, which is borrowed from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French force. The development -rs-rsch is frequent in modern German (see Arsch). Compare Dutch fors.
