From g(ë)- + Old Albanian dhend (Bogdani), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *denta, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *dʰen- (to beat, push) (compare Old Norse detta (to fall, drop)).[1]
