From Ottoman Turkish كرچك ‎(gerçek, true, actual, real), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] ‎(girçek, true), [script needed] ‎(girtü, truth), from Proto-Turkic *gẹr-tü ‎(true, truth).[1] Compare also Mongolian гэрээ ‎(geree, agreement), гэрч ‎(gerč, witness).
