Lithuanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *gʷerH- (to praise).

Cognate with Old Prussian gērbt (to speak), and further related to Latvian garbât (to care for, attend), Lithuanian garbė̃ (honor).[1][2][3]
