Tosk form of Gheg glëmb, from Proto-Albanian *glamba, from Proto-Indo-European *glembʰ- (compare Old Church Slavonic глѫбъ (glǫbŭ, trunk, stump), Ancient Greek γλάφω (gláphō, I scrape up)). Compare also Romanian ghimpe.
