Etymology

Borrowed from Gaulish *gobbos, from Proto-Celtic *gobbos (muzzle, snout, beak), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵoph₃o- (eat, masticate (of animals)).[1] Compare Irish gob, Scottish Gaelic gob (beak, bill) and English gob.
