Usage notes[edit]

The word "feather" has two translations into Finnish: höyhen and sulka. The latter refers to a stiff feather in a bird's wing or tail that helps to produce the lift. Closest to the skin is the fine untuva (down) which helps to maintain body heat on cold weather.
