Related to haurḕ (tusk of elephant or hippopotamus ivory), from earlier *haƙrḕ. Probably cognate with Ron aŋgúr, Duhwa agûr, Mundat àgúrì, Fyer háŋgṑr, Tambas hàŋwì, Muyang àɬə́r, Moloko áɬar, Podoko slira, Zulgo-Gemzek zlír, Bura hyìr.
