ikwindla

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Zulu

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Probably back-formed from the plural amakwindla, itself back-formed from ukwindla, which has no plural of its own. This is a relic class 17 noun (prefix uku-), but the -kw- seems to have been reinterpreted as part of the stem, and a new prefix attached to it.
