Etymology
From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Andalusian Arabic جَبَلِي (jabalī), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Arabic خِنْزِير (ḵinzīr, “pig”) جَبَلِيّ (jabaliyy, “of the mountains”), from جَبَل (jabal, “mountain”).
Cognate with Galician xabaril, xabarín, Asturian xabalín, Spanish jabalí (whence English javelina) and Aragonese chabalin.
