Etymology[edit]

jmn (Amun) +‎ ḥtp(.w) (is satisfied), masculine third-person singular stative form of ḥtp (to satisfy), thus literally ‘Amun is satisfied’. The name is transcribed in the Amarna letters as 𒀀𒈠𒀭𒄩𒀜𒁉 (a-ma-an-ḫa-at-pe₂).
