Etymology

Lua error: Module:checkparams:215: The template Template:PIE root does not use the parameter(s):

2=ǵews

Please see Module:checkparams for help with this warning.

(deprecated template usage) From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle High German küren, derived from küre (see modern Kür). Possibly conflated with (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German korōn, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Germanic *kuzōną, which does not, however, seem to have attested continuations in Middle High German. Compare Middle Low German kören (whence German kören), Dutch keuren, and Middle English cüren (to select).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈkyːʁən/, [ˈkyːʁən], [ˈkyː.ɐn]
