kahvinkorvike
Finnish
Etymology
kahvin (“of coffee”) + korvike (“substitute”)
Noun
kahvinkorvike
- coffee substitute (product that imitates coffee, such as roasted grain or chicory)
Usage notes
- During WWII commercially sold kahvinkorvike had to contain at least 25% real coffee. Anything weaker than that had to be called kahvinvastike. Both were commonly called korvike.
