Kajaks

Etymology

Apparently borrowed from Estonian kajakas (seagull), dialectal kajak, but, given Latvian kaija (seagull), and since ak is a formative element often found in Indo-European animal names, Latvian kajaks may have been the original word and (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Estonian kajakas the borrowing.[1]
