Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Tocharian *kenwäi (whence Tocharian B keni), from the root *kenw- (knee), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵónu. Other cognates include Latin genū, Ancient Greek γόνυ (gónu), Old English cnēow (whence English knee).
