Unknown. Cognate with Shina [script needed] (lekū, small), Chilisso [script needed] (leko, small).

Perhaps inherited from Sanskrit लघु (laghu, light) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓𑁆𑀓- (-kka-), which would make it a doublet of lhoóku.
