From Old Galician-Portuguese lendẽa (compare Galician lendia), from a Vulgar Latin *lēndina or from *lēndinem, accusative of *lēndō or *lēndis, as a variant of classical Latin lēns, lēndem. Compare Catalan llémena, Italian lendine, Romanian lindină.
