Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish لغم (lağım), from Arabic لَغْم (laḡm), ultimately derived from Ancient Greek λᾰ́κκος (lákkos, cavity) [1] or Ancient Greek λαχαίνω (lakhaínō, to dig, to excavate), from Ancient Greek λαχών (lakhṓn, to obtain, to draw, to receive). Compare obsolete or dialectal Bulgarian лагъм (lagǎm, underground tunnel).
