From the older form lecconerìa, either from leccare (lick, verb), or from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German lecchari or lecchōn, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek λιχνεία (likhneía, gluttony; greed). Cognate with Latin lingō (lick, verb) and Ancient Greek λείχω (leíkhō, lick up).
